Research Assistant/ Research Associate (Aerospace Quantum light Source Electronics Engineering)

The Centre for Quantum Technologies (CQT) at the National University of Singapore (NUS) is looking for a talented and motivated electronics/optoelectronics Research Assistant/ Research Associate to join our team developing quantum light source payloads for aerospace and ground-based QKD projects.

The successful candidate will work on the electronics and software of quantum light source payloads and their interfaces to satellite (and other) platforms, they will further assist with electrical aspects of the group’s projects. Specifically they will need to:

 

  • Develop and implement readout electronics for single photon detectors,
  • Develop high pulse rate drivers for laser diodes,
  • Design PCBs and program microcontrollers to operate photonics experiment aerospace payloads,
  • Design electrical and software interfaces between the satellite and quantum payload,
  • Assist with electronics and software related issues that arise in the experimental research activities of the group.
  • Assist with the testing, operation and maintenance of our UHF ground station for satellite tracking, telemetry and commanding.
  • Assist with electronics and software related issues that arise in the experimental research activities of the group.

 

The candidate will need to be comfortable in a small-team academic environment, flexible to changing priorities and requirements, and they will need to develop a good understanding and appreciation of the science payload and its working so as to best fulfil their duties.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor Degree in Electronics Engineering or its equivalent
  • A proven track-record in some relevant areas is required, e.g. quantum key distribution, quantum physics, detector physics, aerospace instrumentation, optoelectronics, encryption systems, UHF radio systems.
